This Yankee Flipper squirrel-proof feeder is the ultimate feeder for keeping your feathered friends fed, and the furred fiends hungry. Let's talk about the basics first. The sturdy polycarbonate feeding chamber is a whopping 4-3/4 inches in diameter and 21 inches long, giving you a break between refills — and ensuring that squirrels can't hang down from the top to reach seed. The four feeding chambers are easily accessible via the perch ring, and the interior of the chamber is designed to direct seed into the seed ports.

Now, for the fun stuff: The birdfeeder features an encased motor and rechargeable (and replaceable) batteries. When you receive the feeder, simply charge the batteries overnight, hang the feeder from its looped bail wire, and prepare to be amazed (and entertained!). The motor is connected to the weight activated perch ring — birds will not set it off, even larger species like woodpeckers and cardinals. spills seeds, not entertaining, not really worth it: This design has no tray to stop seeds from falling to the ground. I have watched small birds knock 5 sunflower seeds to the ground, eat one, knock 5 to the ground, eat one, etc. The squirrels are getting more seeds now from the ground than from our old feeder that they would occasionally jump to.

Very poor, expensive birdfeeder choice.: I recently purchased the Yankee Flipper from a local English Gardens store. First of all I'd like to say I'm an avid birder. Feh - unpopular with cardinals - dumps seed...: I don't know about this feeder - seems I'm now roaring through even more seed, with tons of pigeons, squirrels underneath the feeder (not on it though - suddenly 6 or 8 inches of seed will disappear - I think it dumps seed on the ground with the wind.
